Our website privacy commitment
The Department of Justice and Attorney-General (the Department) is committed to protecting user privacy. We understand and appreciate that visitors and users of this website are concerned about their privacy and the security of any information that may be provided to us.
To protect your privacy the Department follows the eleven Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) set out in Queensland Government Information Standard 42 (IS42): Information Privacy.
How is this website monitored?
When you look at this website, our internet service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only:
- the users server address
- the users top level domain name (for example .gov)
- the date and time of visit to the site
- the pages accessed and documents downloaded
- the previous site visited
- the type of browser used
This is a cookie-free site. No attempt is, or will be made, to identify users or their browsing activities except (in the unlikely event of an investigation) where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.
E-mail and feedback information
This is a Queensland Government website. E-mail correspondence sent to the general e-mail address on this site will be treated as a public record and will be retained as required by the Public Records Act 2002 and other relevant regulations.
Your name and address details will not be added to a mailing list, nor will we disclose these details outside of the Department without your consent unless required by law. However, e-mail messages sent to this site may be monitored by our website support staff for system trouble shooting and maintenance purposes.
Although every effort will be made, the Department does not guarantee to reply to e-mail correspondence sent to this site. Where appropriate, e-mails may be forwarded internally to relevant Department officers for direct response.
How can I access information the Department holds about me?
The Department supports your right to see what personal information is held about you.
You can request access to information about you under Freedom of Information. If there is something in the information that is incorrect, or which you do not agree with, you can request that it be amended.
