The Department of Justice and Attorney-General’s Freedom of Information and Privacy Unit has developed courses to assist Queensland Government Privacy Contact Officers in the application of Information Standard 42 (IS42).

If you are a Privacy Contact Officer and are interested in attending a course, please contact the training officer via email trainingfoi.privacy@justice.qld.gov.au.

Alternatively, if you are regionally based, please contact us via email trainingfoi.privacy@justice.qld.gov.au and let us know what type of training you are interested in so that we can arrange a course in your regional area if appropriate.

The level of demand will govern how often and where courses will be held.

Who should attend?

What will I learn?

Privacy Contact Officers who are new to privacy or those who wish to refresh their knowledge.

Participants will gain an understanding of IS42 and how it relates to information held by Queensland Government agencies. This session is available for new Privacy Contact Officers and seasoned privacy professionals in need of a ‘refresher’.

Participants will gain a theoretical and practical understanding of how the collection principles outlined in IPPs 1–3 affect the way personal information is collected by Queensland Government agencies. This is advanced training. Privacy Contract Officers should complete Introduction to Privacy before registering for this session.

Privacy Contact Officers and Coordinators.

Participants will learn about privacy plans and relevant privacy planning requirements. Participants will also gain a practical understanding of how IPPs 6 and 7 relate to the appropriate access and amendment of personal information provisions detailed in the Freedom of Information Act 1992 (Qld).
